Petroleum Jelly

Useful addition to a poultry keepers first aid kit, during the winter months it is advisable to smear some vaseline onto the combs of your chickens to prevent frost bite.  It is also useful in the summer months to put on the ends of perches to catch red mite - it does not prevent or kill them but it does help stop them from crossing the perch and therefore onto the chickens to feed.
